TORONTO ... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews has issued the following statement:

“We have spoken with Toronto Marlies management and confirmed that a rules interpretation error by the on-ice officials occurred on the Norfolk Admirals’ overtime goal during Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals.

“On the play, a dump-in from center ice by a Norfolk player caromed off a stanchion and into the Toronto net. The correct application of AHL Rule 83.4 would have negated the Norfolk goal due to a delayed offside call.

“As AHL By-Laws do not allow for any change to the final result of a game based on an incorrect rule interpretation, the result of the game stands.”

Play was offsides but hey that stanchion had the Marlies goalie name on it, lol.

Norfolk won the AHL title the TB Lightningaffiliate with Tokarski in net. Maybe Luongo or Thomas may not be need  by Stevie  Y as TG in Tammp next season.

I am tossing 18g, but they are cheap darts. I have the small flights on them now. Thinking about going 16g with the larger flights to see what that does. You are much better than I am, last season I was a 19 ppd.

Ok on to the Draft! I am hoping that the Blackhawks select Malcom Subban with thier 18th pick. He is the best North American Goalie in the draft. Aslo he is P. K. Subbans little brother. Most likely they will draft a small non physical foward to go with the rest of thier collection. Not really high on the job that SB has done so far, its learn as you go with him.

Then there is July 1 where I see very little movement for the Blackhawks. Its a CB year so with no deal in place I think its a conservitive approach. We have learned this is not how cups are won (see the 2011-2012 Kings). Its been a Chicago Cubs quote of "wait till next year" for the hawks these last two seasons. I hope they brush off the Cubs dust soon.

Hmmmm.........The Blackhawks draft...........meh. I guess it was good that the finn slid down to the 18 slot. You have to wonder why, however I think it all comes down to size. He is like 5'10 or so, every pick before him all were 6 foot or taller. He does have skill and just turned 18 so maybe he will gorw a few inches. He also needs to eat something, weight is 160ish. He wont be on the big club for 2 or 3 years any way.

Wouldn't worry about weight of a lot of these draft picks, these kids are young and will add bulk with age. Think this was the first draft that my Wings drafted all kids at 6 feet or up. Asssistant GM Nill judging by how impressed he was with the Kings size and strength and skill must of  convinced the little guy lover Kenny Holland who also hates enforcers. He even drafted some Canadian kid playing in a American junior league in Omaha and he had almost 300 PIMs, lol.

Looks like our two teams have similar picks laste few drafts on defense. Hawks draft Fournier of Quebec league and year before Wings draft Ouellet and in same draft a Fin Pulkinnen that plays for same team as the the Finn your hawks just drafted. Going to be interesting to see how those kids develop.

Only Boston has less salary cap space than your hawks so I expect to see some relief  via trades made on July 1st.  Wings got tons of cap space, need a paster like Suter, Yandle to fill void of Stuart and try to offset huge loss of Lids calling it a career.

Yeah the deal with the salary cap as it sits is there is a new CBA to be hashed out which I suspect will affect the cap. After 2 years of Tallon I thought he was really Pulford in a body suit, after 3 I thought it was Pulford with surgery.   After 4, I was completely convinced Tallon is Pulford.

Stan may suck, but who ever follows him is going to look like a stud.     The guts of the franchise have been completely ripped out and filled with professionals.    Bowman may suck at picking individual players, but I think he'll get bumped up and whoever fills in for him will do extremely well.     The franchise has a real good front office infrastructure now.    They had a real professional staff under Mike Smith, and while Smith sucked, it put a ton of pieces in place (like scouting and development people) that allowed for success later.   I never want to see the good ol' boy club like the Hawks had under Wirtz (Tallon, Pulford, and one of the most terrrible head scouts in NHL history, Mike Dumas).     Dumas (spoken dum azz) was run out by Scotty Bowman.    I wouldn't be surprised if he does consultant work in FLA.

I want Holmgren as chief scout, Lombardi to handle the actual draft, and for Bowman to handle all the negotiations and the administrative responsibilities....but I dream.


I think the Hawks toss a reasonable offer to Suter and Parise, but I don't expect them to compete for Parise.   Too many gms said they're going to go after people.    Neither Parise or Suter are going to be real cost effective contracts long term, but they'll help in the short term.    Suter and Seabrook are too similar, and that might be a combined cap hit that doesn't yield the return down the road.    If they do land Suter, I'm confident he could fetch a nice 2nd line center like Pavelski and another couple minor assets...but I dream again.

Montador says he's bigger and feeling great, and Hossa is well on his way to a full recovery according to recent statements and he and Q are confident that he'll make camp.    Toews is 100%, Kane's liver shrunk to normal, he looks forward to ditching Team USA next year to "heal and train and focus" like he did in Madison next summer.   

Rockford should be better this year, they've been bad.   Blueline will be better and the young players will be better.    Rob Flick starring as "baby car bomb".     I'll be watching more Rockford this year, hopefully make more games.    I wonder if Clendening and McNeil make their debuts this year.     I really like both.     Lalonde has to forget his terrible year last year and at least make himself marketable for a trade.

With the rumored lock out I will be buying Ice Hawg Tix in Milwaukee, Chicago and Rockford early this year. I only went to two Rockford games last year. I liked what I saw and was wondering for a while why Kyle Beach wasnt sent to Toledo and why Boling wasnt in Chicago. Beach was soon injured and Boling was brought up LOL.

Not sure what to make of my thought of what SB will do. I am guessing some minor tweaks. maybe Paul Gaustad who has a chip on his shoulder and finishes checks. and maybe Bryan Allan or Jason Garrison on the Blue line. They may look at a winger too as of now Boling isnt inked just yet. Alexander Semin is out there as is Ray Whitney, I think they need to add a tog 6 winger to the mix. Other names that raise an eye brow Thomas Holmstrom, Ryan Smyth and Brian Rolston......however those are 3rd line guys IMO.

I have no idea who Bowman signs, I'm guessing at least one will be  depth dman.   Only 3 roster spots left, so i doubt he signs more than 2 players, 47 under contract right now.   

With so few teams buying and a big pile of garbage after a top few names in FA, I'm not even sure I want Bowman to sign any of them, I doubt more than a few live up to their contract.    I would like Garrison for a short contract under 4 mil per, but I think he's going to ink a monster deal and laugh on the way to the bank for 5 years while he's injured on and off.      I wonder if Allen will be available, thought Rutherford would want him.       Have to wait a few more days.

I hope Rizzo has a solid start to keep me interested this summer.   Like dental surgery watching cubbies.  

More AHL games for me this year too.   Hoping to make Peoria a couple times too.    Icehogs should be more entertaining, I want them to start playing better, get the goalies in some meaningful games, they've been bad for a while now.   

Beach may be on his last year with the organization.    I was so excited for that guy too, half a year from being a complete bust.   Hopefully he doesn't get injured fighting again.

Grrrrrrrrr I forgot about the Rivermen, that could be a good road trip too. I will only go when the Ice Hogs are playing. Also I might check out a couple USHL games this year. As the years go they are getting more players in the first round and I think came close to the OHL in players taken. I have to trip up to Waterloo to check out the black hawks.

I can see the Garrison senerio playing that way. There was talk that SB wanted to get Allen, now is hes chance. However I think he would have to trade Hammer to get Zack Smith from the Senetors which would create cap space to make the Allen move.

Montador, Frolilk, or Hjalmarsson can be moved to make space.  

I would like Garrison or Allen, but I think there are so few decent dmen out there that they will be grossly overpaid.   I can't say I want them or not until I see the contract.    Bowman can go up to 77 million all summer before he has to move people, so he can make a play at anybody he wants.   No way does Schultz come to Chicago, no ice time in the near future for him.    

I wish I had a clue who they were going to sign this year.    No reliable rumors, even most of the agents are quiet again.

I also think at some point (just past mid season) kanes off ice activities will play havoc in the locker room.

lol, I spend time in the ditch too.     I think injuries are going to be an issue with Sharp (knees, joints), Toews (big and physical, they go down), Seabrook (next hit could mean jello diet for a year, he's had like 6 concussions at least), and Hossa (not a spring chicken) the rest of their contracts.    Kane and Keith are the only ones I'm not too worried about (except Kane's liver).

I think they're deep enough to make the postseason, not because they're great, but because they have better depth than most teams and fewer big issues.

I don't think there's that much for them to do, the prospects aren't worth enough yet and the Hawks don't have what many of the selling teams need right now.     The FA market is going to blow.   Wideman getting a little less than Seabrook....no thanks, and I hope they avoid Garrison and Carle now.
