drop Chapman and pick-up a OF  Chapman is not going to close as long as Dusty Baker is alive
so he is a waste of a roster spot on CBS

I can see the logic in your rationale Dave, but he's got plenty of other dead weight that should be dropped first...step right up Carlos ZambranoSurprised

problem is no one impresses me enough to drop chapman.

ok...even if I buy that argument Austin (not sure I do), standing pat is almost suicide...unless you are really Door Matt in disguise and relish the opportunity to be the sole cellar dwellar yet again.Foot in mouth

The implied sentiment here is that my hitters kick @$$. Thanks to Fred for stating the obvious.

Really...that's what you got from that post...note to self...if the GB10 ever does a Christmas pollyanna Frank could really use an electronic English translator.

Fred,

Chase Headley and Jake Peavy for David Freese and Adam Jones???

What are you smoking?  Why even waste the time sending that ridiculous trade?

Peavy's an elite pitcher???  LOLOL  In April of 2012!  Freese and Jones are tearing it up.  Freese is 2nd in RBI's and has been out for a few games, Jones is hitting clean-up and can hit for power, steal bases, and drive in runs.

Am I getting a BJ with this trade??  Cuz I would still say HELL NO.

Come to me with win-win trades people..

If you don't like Peavy then simply say so, but don't try to diminish what he's accomplished just because no one projected it at the beginning of the season.  Hell I could say the exact same thing about Adam Jones for that matter, but the stats say otherwise so I don't give a crap about projections from the beginning of the year...now that we are in May imo they are no longer relevant.

Jones is in his mid-20's and a 5 tool player - always had a huge upside.  And is just now coming in to his own - which is why you want him.  And I don't blame you..

Freese is coming off his 2011 WS MVP and is crushing the ball.  Both are hitting .320 with a couple HR's and a good amount of RBI's.  Both of these guys will have great years.

Peavy is in his 30's and has been injury ridden for sometime, along with an offense that make it tough for him to win games.

Maybe Peavy and another stud?   Otherwise it's good for you and not for me.

But I don't want Peavy.  He blew his whad in April and you are trying to get rid of him because you know his whad is almost gone.

Actually I would prefer to keep Peavy because I don't think he has "blown his whad" yet, but recognize that sometimes I have to part with elite players to get elite players...not always because I was able to get Romero for Cuddyer from Frank and now he's back on the waiver wire.

I will agree on your analysis regarding Jones (mostly because he's a terror on the base paths) even though I believe he's likely to have some regression here in the near future (you could say the same about Peavy), but Freese is just a solid player...not the stud you are portraying him to be because he had a great World Series last year.

The 3B position has only a very select few studs and now that Longoria is out for at least a month or two, there are even fewer.  I'm willing to trade for what I believe is an upgrade over Chase Headley (there are a surprisngly large number of players that I believe fit this category), but the fact is that right now there are an inordinate amount of 3B players that have been scooped up in the last 24 hours that will become available over the next week or two.  I'm not going to mortgage my team's future just to improve my chances of beating Dave next week.

Pretty sure Freese is hitting .400+ since last october Fred.  Big Mac and Albert Pujols both said this kid is special and can win an MVP.  Just because you didn't draft him in the 15th round like I did, doesn't mean he's not a stud.  He's at the top of the league in alot of catagories and will stay there if he stays healthy.

Last time Big Mac made a comment about anyone being a special player, It was Albert Pujols.

I get it Austin...he's a very good player, but just because his hitting coach says he's going to be "special" doesn't mean he is now.  He's batting .325 this season with 6 HRs...no doubt that he is an upgrade over Headley, but given the fact that he's not within 30 points of Edwin Encarcion (still shocked that Dave just dropped him) and is within 10 points of 11 other players (none of which are in the Top 5) tells me he isn't quite "special" just yet.

To be honest if you have no intention of trading him because he's going to be a stud this season then just say so and I will focus my attention on another player.

The biggest reason his stats are looking more pedestrian from a fantasy perspective is because despite his league leading 23 RBI, he only has scored 11 runs and most importantly only taken 4 walks compared to 23 Ks.  Now you might not give a crap about walks in a ROTO league becuase they don't help any particular category (unless your league counts OBP), but in a points league and in reality a walk is usually as good as a single...hence the reason that my mediocre Chase Headley has 6 more points despite a batting average that is 72 points lower.

Seeing as how Rick's team is also experiencing some signifcant injury issues, he might be more willing to make a deal for a quality SP than some of you other owners are.  I'm convinced someone will see value in my pitching staff and decide that they don't lose very much taking a player that understands how to get on base and improving their SP rotation by adding a Top 20 player.

Or that eventually you will have to drop one of them.  lol

Don't hold your breath on me dropping any of the SPs I currently have on my roster...only Josh Johnson has me even remotely concerned about his YTD performance and even he is still striking out players at a high rate (25Ks in just under 29 innings).  Now Headley could be dropped at any moment that I feel there is a better player available, but right now I'm comitted to making a deal before the end of the weekend if I can pry away the right player.

So Edwin Encarncion is special because his April was good, but David Freese's hitting coach who just so happens to hold the MLB record for HR's isn't??  Freese has been tearing it up consistently since last year's ENTIRE playoffs.

You crack me up man.  Freese missed 4-5 games this year already because of injury.  He will prove your theory wrong this year bud.

If you want to part with a 23-28 year old stud pitcher, then yes you can have Freese.  Ditto on Jones as well.

Stop having me guess what SPs you feel are worthy of a deal and simply counter-offer one of my proposals.  I believe I have excellent depth at the SP position so as long as you aren't targeting Cliff Lee, I'm sure we can reach some sort of agreement.
