Victor? of what? There is no question outside your pea brain that Boise St. tries to live in a little protected cocoon where no one can get to them. I'm not sure what they're trying to accomplish because what's the fun of accomplishing absolutely nothing? And that is what they have basically accomplished. Yes, they beat a decent AQ team every now and then but who cares. You have to total 10 years worth of those AQ wins to equal what some several fine program have done in one. What's amazing is they don't even win conference championships. While the last several years you've tried to tell us how good they are they couldn't even win their conference. Now some teams are so good not only do they not win their conference they win the National Championship. Surprised

If by victor you mean she has proven Boise has won nothing and plays nobody than yes Gator Lass is the victor!

Don't sweat it on my account, Bamatee.  Little Smilies is an embarrassment to real Boise fans and a punchline to the rest of us, that much is obvious by the commentary on all of the boards.  His role at this point is comedic relief.

But I'm impressed that you're still reading his drivel.  You are a super trooper.  Wink

I do recall saying last season that Kellen Moore the Best QB in Boise history would go undrafted.  Boy oh boy was I chastised by Smiles/someday and company.
My, do you have a selective memory, Spinny boy.  I will grant you this, I was surprised that he didn't get drafted, but he'll get a chance in Detroit, which is all anyone can ask.

Most of us pretty much figured that he would not be a top rounder, and I'll challenge you to find where I ever said otherwise.  But hey, I know you far too well to ever expect you to be honest, objective or anywhere close to being fair whenever you speak of Boise State, Spinny.  You wouldn't be the person I love to taunt if you were.

All of your criticisms are correct in one sense, Spinny.  But we Boise fans are used to it.  You bet, Kellen Moore rewrote the Washington State high school football record book.  His Dad, Tom Moore, turned tiny Prosser, Washington into a perennial powerhouse as head coach winning 21 league titles, and 4 state championships.  With Kellen at the helm, they won 34 games, and he was the player of the year in the state, and a high school All American.  But no one wanted him, all of the PAC schools weren't interested, too small, bad mechanics, too slow, etc, etc.  Chris Petersen saw something he liked, and took a chance.  The rest is history.

So fast forward to 2012, history is repeating itself.  If anyone in America has a shot at silencing the naysayers, it will be Kellen Moore.  None of us are expecting him to become the franchise QB, but hey, you never know.  Stafford might get hurt, and Moore might be forced into a game, and knowing him, he'll pull out a win, and another, and another.

Who knows, that's why you play the game.

But it is absolutely reassuring to see you vent your spleen in proclaiming yourself correct.  After all, like you, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Enjoy it while you can.  I'm planning on being in Detroit for the last preseason game, and then in E. Lansing to see how the new look Broncos will fare against MSU.  It might be a tough game, you don't replace the guys we lost easily.  And let me guess, you come on a crow like a fool claiming that I predicted a huge Boise win and try to rub it in if they don't.

That's why I love to have you around, my old foolish friend.  It really doesn't matter what I say, you'll figure out a way to show some disrespect.  It's all good, we appreciate all of the "love."

Oh but did you not imply he would be a high round pick? did you not on another thread say quote " I would take him over Tannehill" by saying that your implying hes better than a first round draft pick right? Tannehill was projected a first round draft pick for over a month now, so your saying Moore is better than a 1st rounder?

At least WE put our money where our mouth is.  You just admitted for the world to see that you are just another one of those fans who say,

"Play someone tough, Boise, just not us."   Cluck, cluck, cluck.  Not even enough courage to call your own AD, impressive, not.
Why did Boise turn down Nebraska and most recently, Arkansas? Answer = Booked solid and will only play one AQ who could possibly beat BSU once per year. Boise has one AQ booked until 2018.

Boise has one OOC slot open from 2014 on so why couldn't they fit Arky in? Answer = scared of losing the game. Playing Michigan State is scary enough I guess.

Totally wrong, Armyman, Nebraska and Boise could not come to terms, and the Arkansas offer is a complete mystery to me, all I've seen is rumors, not the actual offer.  To be honest, a lot of us hope that we will get a deal done with the Huskers, it would be awesome.

But the short answer is that Boise turned down those offers because they felt that they weren't fair nor sincere.  Neither was a home and home deal, and Arkansas has no intention of ever coming to Boise, period.  Nebraska only offered a home game over ten years out with a $250 k. buyout clause.  So you think that Boise should take an offer to play two games in Lincoln with a breakable promise to come to Boise 10 years into the future?  Seriously?

As to swamp, I already said, no sense in dialoging with you, it's a waste of time trying to teach folks who don't wish to learn.

Hey your the one who said you would take him over Tannehill. That usually would imply your saying hes better, meaning hes better than a 1st rounder. But its ok ignore/dance around it. Very typical of you, i expected nothing less.

I think the NFL is more prone to "group think."  The teams figure that if they follow the "formula" that they'll be right more often than not, so taking an undersized quarterback regardless of his stats is seen as too risky.  Keenan and Moore both fit that mold.  I'm baffled that they got passed over.  But it won't be the first time.  Besides, Boise's last QB turned out to be a bit of a head case in the NFL, so they went on past precident, same with Houston.

If you make a mistake on someone who at least "fit the mold" like Tannehill, no one will fault you.  Picking a Moore or Keenan, and then having them not make it endangers your job.  Still, you'd think that the two most statistically outstanding quarterbacks would merit a shot.  Interestingly enough both are good friends and are in constant touch with each other via text and email, I've been told.

Hopefully, both will take the disrespect and turn it into extra motivation.

Im not saying Moore should not have gotten drafted, i feel he was atleast worth of a 5-6th round pick. He is smart, no one is denying that but his lack of physical attributes is hard to ignore. He is accurate but doesnt have a very strong arm. He will be a decent backup and who knows maybe one day if stafford goes down he could step in and impress. I will say this though, as a dolphins fans im very optimistic about tannehill. I feel like he has the ability to be a special QB but i dont feel like you take a QB in the top 10 unless hes sure fire.

Totally right, you mean. Check it out.

1. Boise needs another game for 2012.

2. Arkansas offers to play Boise.

as-in-2012-why/

Not on the radar? Boise State complains because none of the Top 10 AQs will play them. Supposedly. Now a Top 10 team asks them for a game and

"So it comes as a bit of a surprise that athletic director Mark Coyle told the Idaho Statesman “You’re going to hear all types of names, all types of games, but that (an Arkansas game) is not on our radar.”

This is no surprise to me. Mark Coyle is doing what he always does in making sure Boise has the entire off season to get ready for a big game against a AQ, then refuses to play any other AQ with a pulse.
Same ole Boise.
When Boise gets left out of the BCS again, I will remind you that they had this offer but refused it. When you refuse to play Top 10 teams, you deserve to watch those teams play on New Year's Day.

Don't give me the crap about the financial part of the deal. Boise beats MSU and Arky and they most likely go to a BCS bowl and reap a lot more than a million or so dollars when they 'supposedly' might lose a couple of hundred thousand dollars here. Admit it, smiles Coyle knows his team probably isn't that good this year so he is shirking this game.

Boise would play anyone, anywhere, anytime? Scared crapless, that's why.

Of course they are.

You see Armyman (I I do realize you "Get it"), Boise has built a House of Cards/Smoke and Mirrors on a paper foundation.  While they Brag and get what they can out of the very little they can claim as "accoplishments", the key to this moving forward is simply that:

It would take only ONE good solid Butt Kicking for the entire House of Cards to come Tumbling Down. When you do very little, it only Takes very little to UNDO.

Smiles will tell you "it's being smart".  What you call it is far more accurate:

Fear of going back to the drawing board.

I'd say that Boise has you right where they want you.  If Boise was half as bad as you claim they are, then why is this thread so long?  Why did they have more players drafted this weekend than pretty much anyone?
Having 6 players drafted is nice.  Ohio State had 5 players drafted in the 2003 draft, the first one following their 2002 title team.  However, that was junior dominated team, and they had an NFL record 14 players drafted in the 2004 draft.  All in all, over 30 players from the 2002 OSU team were drafted, and numerous others signed as free agents from that team.  You're bragging about six players picked in the draft?  Seven times, Ohio State has had 3 or more players picked in the first round, including 5 first rounders in 2006 including AJ Hawk, Nick Mangold and Bobby Carpenter, who were solid contributors as freshmen on the 2002 team (Santonio Holmes redshirted in 2002, and early NFL entry Donte Whitner was a freshman in 2003).  Hell, Ohio State was 6-7 in 2011 and still had 4 players drafted.

Boise is small potatoes (pun intended) in the world of college football.

I'll take it.  Reading your whining post is music to my ears, my friend.  A sure sign that you are successfully generating respect is when a message board thread goes into dozens and dozens of pages, all filled with fans from big schools who can't stand you, and your team.

I'd say that Boise has you right where they want you.  If Boise was half as bad as you claim they are, then why is this thread so long?  Why did they have more players drafted this weekend than pretty much anyone?  Why have they spent more weeks in the top 25 than pretty much anyone?  Why do they have so many passionate enemies?  Must be doing SOMETHING right to get all of that.

Again, I take it.  Thanks, Erkper.
If Boise has anyone right where they want them, why are they frantically shuffling from conference to conference, hoping to latch on to the "big boy" reputation, and why are you constantly whining that everyone else has to "play fair" to give Boise the advantage they currently lack so they can sit at the top of the pyramid as well?

If you are really happy with the way things are, please quit crying about how things need to change.

literally lmao at the excuses by the resident forum clown comedian, Smiles, try to generalize away why the Nebraska and Arkansas deals didn't work lol. It's because Boise is scared but wants to play the victim and garner support that way instead of proving it on the field. Your AD knows your greatest class in your history, who couldn't even win their own sorry conference more often than not, is done and so is BSU. Whats the excuse for not taking up FSU's offer then? Hilarious for years we have to hear from smiley that the one thing you can control is the OOC and since BSU's reg season sucks so bad he went with that to prove his pointless points and cut everyone down and now this dumbazz has to live with that while his team runs scared from Nebraska, Arkansas and FSU but picks up who again? lol!!!!!!

Great posts, everyone, but Spinny remains my favorite.

I find you all quite interesting, you go on and on about how Boise has to improve it's scheduling, it's stadium, it's players, blah, blah, blah, and when they do, suddenly I get posts about why is Boise so frantically scrambling?

So which is it?  Has Boise improved it's level or not?  Should Boise be seeking to change things or not?

What you call comedy, I call doing what one needs to do to accomplish what one needs to accomplish.  It certainly got the attention of you good people.  Works for me.

Let's review.  Spinny started all of this years ago, right after his school lost to Boise, clear back in 2007.  He went on and on about how the program was "smoke and mirrors"  (still does!) and how that they have no talent, nor any business aspiring to be great.  Five years later, and Boise is now considered to be a top program by many measuring sticks.

Top ten ranking, year after year?  check
Winning record?  the best in d-1
First round draft picks?  4 of 'em in four years and now only behind Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma in total number this year
Dramatic growth of the program and budget? check
Dramatic growth of the fanbase, TV ratings, and national interest?  check
Countless threads that passionately debate them?  check
A loyal cadre of naysayers that show thinly disguised jealousy?  check and check

Boise inks deal with UT Martin in 2013

April 30, 2012 11:35 am

2006 was the year that Peterson took over the coaching duties at Boise State, and is generally viewed by Bronco fans as when the page turned for them.  It's like that was the year Boise State grew up. It was their 10th year as a D1 program, and the year the football program elevated itself to one of the upper echelons of the mid-major class.

That is complete Crap and you know it gr8.  The SUPER COACH of the World to Boise fans was Peterson's predecessor and you well know it.  When he left, people in Boise were FREAKING the Light Fantanstic.

Of course, when Jr. went on to coach the Colorado Buffs and LOST EVERYWHERE HE WENT, suddenly Boise fans turned their backs and pretended Peterson was the one all along.

Peterson is the most overrrated coach in the Country, getting by on Smoke and Mirrors just like the moron before him.  Their records are nearly Mirror images of each other.

Boise hasn't grown up in the least, only more of the same garbage.

I respectfully disagree here, spin. Peterson is comletely unlike any of Boise State's former Head Coaches. Peterson DID take the Boise State football program and elevate it to an entirely new level. And Peterson IS one of the brighteset, most respected coaches in CFB currently.

Let's just take a look at his VERY FIRST recruiting class - the class of 2007. Of the 29 recruits he brought on, three are still on the team for this year, and one had to retire early due to injury. So that leaves 25 recruits who have moved on in life in one way or another. Of those 25, 12 of them are currently signed on teams in the NFL. Do the math. That equates to a whopping 48% of his first recruiting class playing in the NFL. Without a single recruit rated greater than 3 stars. From a smalll market mid-major program. Respect Boise State or not, that is one exceptionally impressive stat for Peterson. That is impressive for any head coach at any program, let alone for a school such as Boise State.

It's the reason why I always refer to 2006 as the year Boise State put on its big-boy pants, and use "since 2006" as a basis for examples in discussions.

Peterson did very, very well with the class of 2007, but my math tells me 12 of 29 is not 48% gr8.  Just so you know...

Smiles, still waiting for a reason why it would be in any major program's best interests to play in Boise, (since Boise isn't the only school allowed to schedule in their own best interests and all,) and still wondering why you whine so much about the "unfairness" of the current system if Boise "has everyone right where they want them."  Your words, smiles.  Please explain them.
