Nobody wants to be Harvey Updyke's lawyer

Last week, the most famous tree poisoner in the history of Alabama, Harvey Updyke, lost his court-appointed lawyer due to a conflict of interest. Phillip Tyler had been Updyke's lawyer but filed a motion to be let off the case due to the fact he's a professor at Auburn, and has "numerous personal and family ties" to the school. So the court appointed Updyke a new lawyer, and now that lawyer has filed another withdrawal motion.

Jerry Hauser was given the case after Tyler, but on Tuesday morning he asked to be taken off the case as well due to his ties to Auburn. It seems Hauser's wife is the head of the Department of Communication and Journalism at the school. So no doubt she'd use her communicating prowess to let her husband know that he should set Updyke up for the death penalty.

Seriously, are there no public defenders in the state of Alabama that went to Alabama? Can't they find a single lawyer in the state with "Roll Tide" on its business card?

I mean, Nick Saban signs 40 players a year to the football team, surely one of them has to have a law degree by now.

Nobody wants to be Harvey Updyke's lawyer

Since I attended both AU & UA in the 60's, I find myself wondering how many law schools there are in AL now?
UA had one, but AU did not 40 years ago. Maybe there is someone who reads this can answer this question.
BTW rolling the trees at Toomer's Corner was always THE GREATEST clean fun we had when AU beat UA.

Nobody wants to be Harvey Updyke's lawyer

And the hits just keep on comin' for old Harvey.

The judge went 45 minutes up the road to Montgomery for Lawyer #3, an Auburn University - Montgomery grad.  THIS lawyer lasted all of thirty minutes, probably just long enough to type, scan and email his recusal request to the court.  NO ONE wants this loser of a client and his loser of a case.  At this rate, they are going to have to import an attorney from Wisconsin to manage this.

And per Channel 12 out of Montgomery, old Harv is actually living in his car down by a creek in the Alabama woods - which is the redneck equivalent of IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER...

If this were not such a devastating event for the Auburn Family, it would be comical.  As an Auburn alum, my personal wish is for this scumbucket to make special friends with a 400 pound tatted up skinhead named Tiny for the next 5-10 years.

War Damn Toomers.

No one wants to touch this loser of a client and his loser of case.

They are going to have to bring in someone from Wisconsin to represent this guy, who is now, according to the reporter on Channel 12 out of Montgomery, living in his car down by a creek in the woods, which is the redneck equivalent of "IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER"...

Nobody wants to be Harvey Updyke's lawyer

To the author of this article, Tom. I am a diehard Bama fan. I don't agree with the actions of Harvey Updyke and I don't know any other Bama fans that do either. My cousin is a lawyer who graduated from Alabama and wouldn't want to represent him either.  Saying "Roll Tide!" is a privilege and only someone who is not a true fan would want to be associated with this man!  Bama fans are just as disgusted as Auburn fans; this gives us a bad name. Do you the not realize if  his lawyer went to either of these schools it would be a conflict of interest, and a Bama lawyer would seem like the school or its affiliates condoned his actions?
