When you're a starting running back whose team has just signed their highest-profile running back recruit in years and whose coach has already discussed naming said recruit the 2011 opening day starter, it's probably not the best idea to land in hot water with that coach before spring camp even opens. But that hasn't stopped Georgia junior tailback Washaun Ealey from finding himself suspended by Mark Richt for the second time in less than eight months.

With rumors swirling over the past 48 hours, reports this morning have confirmed that Ealey has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities. The suspension reportedly comes after Ealey failed to show for a "punishment run" last week, and Ealey has now confirmed the suspension to the Macon Telegraph's Seth Emerson:

As indicated, Ealey's future status with the team remains undetermined. After first his suspension last August following his arrest for a hit-and-run accident and driving with a suspended license, and then whatever violation of team rules led to the "punishment run" in the first place, it's highly possible Ealey has already run out of strikes.

If he hasn't, the Bulldogs will return their leading rusher of each of the past two seasons and boast one more sturdy (if not overly explosive) option in their efforts to take the pressure off of sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray. If he has, well, there's a reason Richt didn't even wait until after Signing Day lay out such high expectations for Isaiah Crowell, isn't there?

UPDATE: A Georgia official confirms that Ealey is still a member of the Bulldogs .

I'm not even going to talk about the Auburn Tigers because I will have to go wash my mouth.

Well, thanks for proving my point.  Seems like Mark Richt and his staff, as well as the UGA fan base, is pretty good at avoiding the warning signs and not responding to relevant criticism while simultaneously acting like it has anything to do with other schools.

I know you hate Auburn.  That's fine.  That's understandable.  It's a heated rivalry.  But this criticism has nothing to dow ith Auburn.  UGA blows right now and your fan base thinks they can win the SEC next year like they do every year.  Delusional.

Maybe UGA isn't so special after all.  Maybe Mark Richt is capable of having to deal with the same type of problems of say, Urban Meyer?  I notice that none of the usual Gator-haters are making use of this blog today.

Maybe he should go hang with Evans.  They can throw back some drinks, find some hotties and go cruising.  It's a great UGA tradition or at least so I hear.

And don't bring up Fairly being a DT transfer.  People forget he played for Auburn in 2009 too.  Leadership takes time.  Auburn went through growing pains in 2008 and 2009 and it all came together in 2010 with senior leadership and leadership from the coaches.  Cam was a major piece but lets not pretend Auburn didn't lead the SEC in offense in 2009 as well, and that was with Chris Todd.

Derekross....

No, it shows that absolutely nothing is changing at UGA and you can expect more of the same.  Mark Richt for sure has lost the team and he is not the answer for the long term future.

I will use Auburn for an example.  Mario Fannin, this past year senior running back was always in the shadow of Ben Tate.  He finally gets his chance senior year and we sign #1 running back in the nation Michael Dyer.  What did Fannin do?  He didn't wine like a baby because he was jealous.  He stuck with his team, helped out all season, and caught a clutch third and long pass to beat Oregon in the NT game.  He was a team player because it was taught to him by is coaches.  King and Ealy have not panned out and are being babies about Crowell.

At UGA, there has been a consistent problem with players attitudes and off the field problems.  They clearly do not respect their head coach and you can expect more of the same next year.  There is clearly not enough locker room chemistry on that team and it showed heavily against UCF. Don't expect a freshman running back or a junior college DT to lead a team.  Leadership starts from the top.

UGA will go 7-5 next year and that is just because the schedule is set up nicely.

Stroker: I agree that football players seem to get in more trouble than other athletes. We could debate the why's on that for days, but what is beyond debate is that this seems to happen more often at UGA than the average school. I have family in the south and they speak highly of UGA but the football program is giving that fine instituion an undeserved black eye.

If they cant get this issue in line than maybe the coach needs to be shown the door?

Richt needs to kick this guy off the team to send a message to his players that repeat offenders will not be allowed to wear the red and black.  The hammer is what has been missing since van Gorder and this is as good of a time to start showing the kids who is boss.

For those of you killing the Dawgs for recruiting the wrong kind of guys, you are crazy to think this does not happen everywhere.  From the pro's to college, football players get into more trouble than any other sport.  At every university that plays competitive football, the players all believe they are bigger than the system because they are being told that for as long as they can remember.

Go ahead and take your shots at UGA, as it really does not matter up in Athens, but don't fool yourself if you following a real contender and this is not happening at your university.
