Bo Pelini is sorry, everybody

If you watched the game between Nebraska and Texas A&M on Saturday night, you had a front row seat to a special viewing of Bo Pelini bursting any ear drums that dared get within five feet of him.  Pelini wasn't very happy with the officials on Saturday night, as his team was called for sixteen penalties in the game, compared to the two that were called on the Aggies.

Still, Pelini's rage and spittle weren't reserved solely for the officials.  The cameras caught him tearing into quarterback Taylor Martinez on the sidelines after Martinez had returned from having his ankle looked at in the locker room.  That incident led to some rumors that Martinez had quit the team on Sunday, which were refuted on Sunday night, and also led to Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman publically reprimanding the head coach about his behavior.

Now, unsurprisingly, Pelini is apologizing for the way he behaved on Saturday night.  Pelini said that while he doesn't think it's wrong for a head coach to yell at officials during a game, he did believe it was wrong to "make it personal" and that on Saturday night he "let it get personal."

Personally, I don't find any of this to be that big of a deal. Football coaches have a tendency to yell at players and officials all the time, as I know I've been on the receiving end of such tirades myself.  Plus, it's not like this is anything new from Pelini.  I recall seeing him chew out Ndamukong Suh during a game against Virginia Tech in 2008, and Suh turned out just fine.  Frankly, I think the only problem with any of this is the fact that it had been caught by cameras in a nationally televised game.

Fire Pelini, We liked it when Nebraska sucked. We liked it when Nebraska couldn't stop my grandma from running over 100yds. We have to get rid of coaches like this, they are making programs perform. Look at Texas Tech-Without Mike Leach they are a great team with that spoiled baby james. and all he got was put in time out.

FIRE PELINI! WE WANT THE SUCKY OLD NEBRASKA BACK!

Great point. This guy is a loose cannon. Tom Osborne has to be embarrassed. Matter of fact, Mike Rozier, Turner Gill, Dean Steinkuhler, Johnny Rogers, etc has to be embarrassed.

Oh, please. If you act like he does, you are not going to get the marginal calls, If you think for a second that things will be better when you get to the Big 10, you are crazy. He has a bad reputation, and it will follow him where ever he goes. He had it at LSU, Oklahoma, etc. He cussed Bill Snyder out one time after a K State game. He has issues, and he should be in the press box with a set of headphones on in a padded room.

I don't think a player, Tony Jerod-Eddy, should take advantage of players in a pile trying to recover a fumble. He obviously was enjoying giving the Nebraska player's crotch attention with his hand. I have nothing personal against people of that orientation, but they should keep it private and not misuse their status as a player for a major university to get their rocks off. There is no place in sports for predators.

No kidding! I'm no big Cornhusker fan but I welcome them to the Big 10[-12]. THAT was not only dirty but deserves to expose the "faggot" footballer who would even think of handgrinding anothers scrotum area like that. That SHOULD get that guy a suspension for A&M's next game---or 2! Frown Personally, I'd be quite embarassed to get caught on video doing anything near that. SICKO! Yell

Maybe Bo remembers getting a butt-chewing back, way back when Iowa's Marv Cook drug him into the endzone for a touchdown at "the Shoe" to give the Hawkeyes a very rare victory over the lucky, sucky Buckeyes. Now, if Kirk Ferentz could learn to chew out officials that make no calls while lucky, sucky Buckeyes are making cheap headshots at our RB Adam Robinson. And then just watches "ho hum" while A-Rob laid almost lifeless on the turf. Totally classless, Captain! Yell

Actually, Whatever, that was Bo's brother, Carl Pelini, the defensive coordinator. Without sound, it's hard to say what provoked the incident, but hard to argue that it would be justified under any circumstance.
