The sordid past of Cam Newton

Over the last few days, we've learned quite a bit about Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.  First the news broke last week about the NCAA investigation into Newton's recruitment after he left Florida following an incident in which he stole a laptop, and now the news that Newton cheated while enrolled in Gainesville.

Dark secrets indeed, but they merely scratch the surface.  I did some digging of my own, utilizing my many sources throughout the college football world and public school system of College Park, Georgia.  What I uncovered during my investigation will chill you to the bone.

This is just some of what I learned.

 - While in the second grade, Newton checked the book Where The Wild Things Are out from the College Park Public Library.  He returned the book two weeks late, and refused to pay the 25 cents in late fees.

 - While in the third grade, a classmate alleged that Newton stole his chocolate milk during lunch.  Two other students saw him do it, but lunch room officials never found evidence of the stolen milk, and Newton did not serve any detention.

 - In the fifth grade, Newton's class was told to make a diarama about a book they read.  Newton had chosen The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and turned in a diarama of Huck and Tom Sawyer sailing down the Mississippi River.  It was very well done, and while there was suspicion that his parents may have helped him, it was never proven.  He received a B+.

 - When Newton was 13 he stole a Snickers bar on a dare from some friends from the local convenience store.  He was caught by the proprietor, who then called the police to teach Newton a lesson.  The police then made Newton pay for the candy bar before taking him home to his parents.  Newton was grounded for a week.

 - Three years later, at the age of 16, Newton returned to the same convenience store to get some Gatorade.  The total for his purchase was $1.26.  Newton only had a quarter on him, and didn't want to break another dollar.  Thankfully there was a "Take a penny, leave a penny" tray on the counter.  Newton only needed one penny, but he took three.

These are just some of the stories I learned in my investigation.  Clearly, Cam Newton is a monster that needs to be stopped.  Hopefully somebody can stop him before he strikes again.

Tom Sawyer didn't go down the river with Huck and nobody did any sailing.  Huck made a raft with Jim the escaped slave and they floated down river.  If you are going to use a book in weak attempts at satire, at least use a book that you've read.

Are you dense or something?  If he cheated on a test at UF it has no bearing on his status at Auburn because he's not at UF any more...nothing to see here so move one.

So what did Cam do this year? Uhm nothing.

Whatever happened at UF with Cam is in the past and as far as I'm aware his punishment was that he transferred and played for a Community College.  Mmm I sense fear from these poor little Oregon fans that know they are in for a trouncing if Auburn can make it past their tough schedule.  Everyone knows that Oregon will be ok until the BCS game because they have a schedule full of homecoming opponents...too sad.

The article written here us clearly taking the issue lightly. (When can sacarasm just go away)Personally, making fun of the situation is as bad as ignoring it. i don't have any proof that Cam cheated, and hopefully he is cleared of the alleagtions IF they are untrue. Unfortunalty, more often than not there is always a little truth this sort of thing.

For the record, my comment was in response to DuckFan...I didn't realize that this site doesn't link the comments that are directly related to another comment rather than the story.

He's making a spectacle for the way the saga has gone. Maybe you just haven't noticed because you haven't been watching as closely, but the story about the agent was bogus and has blown up in the media's face, so now they're breaking stories of past misgivings as if to assure that Newton is a thug. I don't know anything about the cheating, and yes, it is a big deal. He didn't steal the laptop, he bought a laptop that was stolen. There is a difference.

Newton may well have been coddled, but he came crashing down to earth at Blinn, and reports have been steady since he arrived at Auburn that he has been an exemplary student, leader, and football player. He declined an invitation to go to Panama City with his brother to stay home and study his playbook. All indications are that whatever his problems were, he has turned his life around...and now, in the middle of an outstanding year, reports from his past are coming up left and right to discredit him.

Shame on you for legislating morality in a situation you clearly know little about!

The sordid past of Cam Newton

Hey DuckFan31,
Cam Newton has been coddled?
What planet have you been living on?
The guy was buried on the UF depth chart behind Timmy CryBow.   Then, when Timmy came back for his senior year, and, Urban Cryer decided to anoint some other QB as the air apparent, Cam decided to go get him some playing time.  So he went to the small school for a year and then decided it was time to play for the big boys again.
He had narrowed his search down to Mississippi State and Auburn.  As if that was a real choice.   History and Offensive Coordinators in place made this choice a no brainer for Cam and his dad.
So now, we have Auburn sitting at #2 and Cam Newton the Heismann favorite.
Now, all these accusations start coming from two places:
Mississippi State and Florida.
So, just so I understand, WEEKS before the Heismann voting, all of a sudden, the two schools that Cam Newton left behind are now spreading this GARBAGE about him?  From TWO YEARS AGO????
Hmmmm...
Fishy no?
Also, who is taking the accusations lightly?   The FACT is, these are accusations from YEARS ago.  YEARS.  Not to mention the FEDERAL OFFENSE committed by releasing academic records.
Please.
And besides, the only thing YOU should be concerned about is the epic beat down your team is going to receive in the BCS Championship should the two teams face off.

Worried about stopping him already?  Auburn has a long way to go.

None of this changes the fact that these records are protected by federal law.  Or the fact that this story broke behind a reporter who described Auburn's game on Saturday as "subdued" and made a point of fans leaving early.  IT WAS UT FREAKING CHATTANOOGA AND IT WAS 45 DEGREES AND WINDY.

It was also 48-14...AT HALFTIME
